Hope everyone is doing well

It's been a bit longer than 2 weeks since I started writing this blog, and I know I am an amateur in this sector, so I am trying to improve it as much as I can, thus I have come to a conclusion that I will start to make 2 reviews a week, one mid-week and one in the weekend. I will also start grading the places I review in 5 different categories which I think matter most.

Meaning :

Environment
Cost
Food Quality & Presentation
Service, and
Quantity

All of these will be graded on a total of 10points (2points each category), which hopefully will give a better idea of what I thought and why.

I will try to post daily, but with regards to reviews, as I mentioned twice a week I think is enough.

Feel free to comment if you any other ideas you would like to share

take care :)Haberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-88273506137480119212009-11-29T13:10:00.007+01:002009-11-29T22:32:00.509+01:00Wednesday @ MC CafeAs I promised it was time to visit one of the most popular cafe's and I do not tell a lie !!!!

Once upon a mid-week evening me and my lovely girlfriend decided to go grab a coffee and some pasties at the closest McCafe' (which for me it's the airport one)

Now I'm not gonna actually review this place as it's so commercial that I'm' sure that everyone went and will continue to go anyways.

So instead I'm just gonna tell what we took and what I liked and didn't :)

As usual the place was packed, but we still managed to find a comfy place where to sit nonetheless.

Then I approached the Cafe' bar and felt really undecided about what I was gonna choose as there is quite a lot to choose from.

Finally it came down to 3 things, a nocciola conciglia, which is displayed below, and two different cookies.

The nocciola conciglia is basically made up of a light pastry filled with nocciola and covered with icing sugar - it's very similar to a croissant. The conciglia was served cold and eventhough my girlfriend thought that it would have been much, much better if served warm she liked it, on the other hand I didn't, simply because the taste was very, very ordinary.

The cookies I decided to take were 1 with white chocolate chips and another one chocolate with chocolate chips, which you can view below:

As you can see from the pic above the cookies are quite large and as you can determine yourselves both taste differently.

The white one for example, is really, really good, especially if you crave really sweet types of food.

In contrast, the chocolate one was too chocolaty in the sense that - I've had chocolate chip cookies before but this was utter chocolate like having a chocolate bar that crumbles easier because it's made from cookie dough.

However it was all worth it as it's quite affordable (9 euros including 2 coffees) with a good and efficient quality McDonalds normally delivers, not forgetting the really cool and modern look this place has.

Hope you try the deserts I mentioned - until next time cya :)
So for all those skeptics please give a simple sushi roll (made with cucumber filling) a try and it is only 90c Euro - at Gochi at least.

You never know, it might be love at first bite.Haberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-22585441790946939522009-11-22T10:34:00.023+01:002009-11-22T12:20:45.787+01:00Gochi!!! ReviewHello,

As promised, yesterday I went to a nice place to eat and thought I should write a review for everyone to read:

It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon when my girl and I felt like eating something light and not greasy. I remembered about a place in paceville called Gochi which sells sushi and Japanese cuisine takeaway.

As soon as we arrived I noticed that they opened a small lounging area so you can eat your food in. Therefore we decided to give the place a try as it looked very nice and welcoming. They set it up in a Japanese traditional style as you can see below:

With regards to the food:

I love their sushi, its great! However, I will give it an 8/10 cause although the place was clean, and offers very fast service, its still needs a little bit more fixing (chipped walls) while the sake and other Japanese traditional drinks are expensive (which I find quite strange since the food is quite affordable).

Give it a try - hope u enjoy as it as much as we did and take care,

until next blog

Cya :)Haberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-15553312431515735392009-11-21T13:05:00.001+01:002009-11-21T13:07:21.370+01:00old review part 2HI,

below please a review I did about Oleander a Gozitan restaurant me and my friends visited hope you enjoy

OK let's go!

Around 2 weeks ago I went to Gozo for a long weekend with my girl friend and two other couples who are friends of ours.

For dinner on Saturday we decided that we could go out to eat in order to completely relax, since we cooked every day, both for lunch and dinner to save some cash. A mate of mine (who I normally don't trust :P) suggested that we go to a restaurant situated in Xaghra's piazza called Oleander.

The place is a bit small at first glance and gives the impression of a small family run restaurant with an antique and dark wood style accompanied by some other "classical" ornaments. The place had a typical Gozitan environment, which was really quiet and soothing thus creating the perfect relaxing/romantic atmosphere, if you don't mind a cat purring next your leg that is.

My partner and I started off with some pasta tagliatelle with a rich zesty sauce mixed with thin sliced duck breast. We weren't too keen on eating a heavy full course meal so we decided to share the starter between us so we would be able to eat the main course, which for me is the most important dish, while she would be looking forward to have desert. The pasta was very good and I was tempted to lick the remains on the plate but my girlfriend stopped me and gently reminded that free bread was provided.

As for the main course I took a mixed meat and poultry platter consisting of a fillet of beef, chicken breast and boneless quail along with a side salad and roasted potatoes. Even though the plate wasn't too abundant it was enough even after the half starter I took. The food was cooked to perfection, especially the chicken which in my opinion it was the BEST chicken I ever tasted! It was cooked to perfection; it was juicy and not under cooked.

Finally it was time for desert. We once again decided to share a slice of cookies chocolate gateau, which wasn't anything out of this world, but it was good in its own way. However it was pleasing in its own way having contrasting textures, that is the softness of the cream and the crunchiness of crushed cookies.

The service. We were greeted by a smiling, Gozitan, young woman. The service was quick and efficient considering my girl friend ordered a fish and asked if it would be cleaned of bones. This was done in front of us in a very clean and professional manner. The only thing that I personally despised was that it took them ages to get the bill, but apparently this was because she didn't understand me when I asked her for the bill so forgiveness was in order.

With regards to pricing it was quite affordable, especially for all the food that we ordered. Including a drink and my now usual espresso the total for me was of ?25. Quite reasonable!

In conclusion: I must say I was rather impressed with this restaurant and I will surely revisit this place when we decide to go up to Gozo again. AS always, there are some things which the owner can improve upon but overall it really is worth its money, so go ahead and give it a try. Then decide whether you agree or not with my review. Until my next review cause now I'm addicted!!Haberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-60910292641697586032009-11-21T09:36:00.002+01:002009-11-21T09:42:38.384+01:00HELLLOOOOHelllo everyone

and hope that everyone has had a good nights sleep like me :), yesterday decided to watch a movie in instead of in and i made a bad sin in my culinary believes i bought some fried chicken :( (but it was good and i missed it a lot)

Hopefully 2nite i'll be having something much more substantial at a nicer place that costs a bit more but doesn't involve seeing bloodstains on the cooks clothes and hands while smiling and saying HI what can I get you :) ill keep the place anonymous as unfortunately most fried chicken joints (not counting kfc as they are a bit serious)are like that.

till then cu on the same bat blog

cya :)Haberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-40850757575561332702009-11-20T08:00:00.002+01:002009-11-20T08:05:34.638+01:00FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good morning everyone

Hope everybody is doing well today I started off in quite a good mood.

I didn't prepare anything today apart from ham and cheese sandwiches which i hope u d0n't need a picture for :P but today or tomorrow I'm going to restaurant and review about it I'm thinking of also adding some pics of the surroundings so other people wondering what Malta looks like can get glimpse.

any ways catch u later on

have a good day and if you want me to 1 review a particular restaurant or make a specific dish lemme know take care and good dayHaberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-62797228232387062422009-11-19T09:13:00.003+01:002009-11-19T09:33:05.840+01:00Another daysorry guys

didn't manage to blog yesterday since my girl friend had a problem with work

and I tried to help her but still managed to cook something for me for lunch today

a chicken cordon bleu with mashed potato nothing special here is what i used

1 chicken breast
2 big potatoes
2 slices of ham
2 slices of cheese
1 table spoon of margarine half to cook with half to make the mashed potato
1 cup of milk
and salt

basically just split the chicken breast into two pieces after removing the fat.
boil them for 10 minutes then grill them till they start to become brown after wards at the hame for about 3 minutes while the pan is hot when finished put on a plate the chicken ham and cheese slices on top of each other.

for the mashed potato peel the potatoes of its skin and put them to a boil over hot water for 15 minutes till they come soft.

i dint have time to make a sauce but ketch up with onions would have become great

then put them into a bowl add water butter and a pinch of salt for ultimate perfection :P

here is a pic kindly ignore the container but it what i had a available as the others where being cleaned catch ya later on peeps :)

<img style="display:block; Hope you enjoy my looooonnnggg review of a beautiful dayGood morning to everyone today after i woke up at 6:30 am prepared for work

and there was an accident blocking the single route to get out of my town. the accident involved a women crashing i into the wall and denting the bumper but wanted to wait for the warden to see if she could convince them that it wasn't her fault,i mean seriously these damn walls need to stay put they always cause accidents when they start walking on there own I hope this will serve as a lesson to all walls and stones i hope this poor lady who works at a local bank gets the correct refund from the inscurance as she deserves.

After my well deserved 30 minutes in traffic I arrived at work 15 minutes late only to find that my access card wasn't working so had ring up my manager who was currently in the bathroom to come and open up for me now i have to make the best coffee in the world for him so hopefully he doesn't think about hiring a sharpshooter for me.
<br alcaholic drinks (always not to much)

and you are aguaranteed a great time espeically since its not as cheap as the normal maltese crappy every 13 year old can come in bars, the crowd is mid twenties and over and the place looks classy and modern at the same time the sound is nice clear but not to loud that u need to suck on some one's ear in order to hear you.

as for the cost the bill of the food above 1 mai tai , 1 jack coke and a soft drink

came to 30 euros which for maltese people is a bit over the average price, but considering that you wont encounter any type of annoyance from the crowd or the people there I think its worthed + its a nice way to combine booze, good food, and music at the same time and for malta that is quite a rarity, any ways catch you later :) here is a link to hugos tapas if this small review made you curious about it : Enjoy

Ps i apologize for the quality of the pictures but the only camera I have at the moment is my mobile 3.2 mp camera on my 5800 xpress its nothing amazing but it should give a decent ideaHaberhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06863415934067871588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3916372950847292086.post-35209190523015083542009-11-13T14:48:00.000+01:002009-11-13T14:51:01.400+01:00I work cooking before going out easy and goodits 6 pm just got home after work and some errands and I should leave again as tonight me and my girl have a reception ( with a bar XD ) vbut im feeling pekish

so i picked some frozen beef cuts from lidl ( meaning really cheap) boiled so the shit comes out of them ( extra fat and oil) so reduce saturates chopped up some pepers ( green and red) and onions

got some long thin wooden sticks and after the beef was boiled and instead of water there an infested pool of gunk and death ( aka oil and fat) a showered them a bit so with some water

mixed 1 tablespoon of hot sauce and 1 teas spoon of bbq sauce and some ground black peper and fried the meat and veggies all together till the veggies start small black parts on them showing that they are ready. then stabbed together and gobbled up it's quick and tasty

now 10 minutes of war hammer online a shower and shave and of we go :) catch y' all
